Can I Drill Holes On The Top Of The Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler DM15349-52?

Question:

Can you drill holes on the top of the DM15349-52 to mount to an aluminum landscape trailer? My aluminum trailer has a coupler that mounts with bolts from the top of the a-frame. I want to utilize these existing holes so I dont have to drill additional holes in the frame.

While drilling the Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler # DM15349-52 is not the standard mounting method, it is generally preferable to drill the coupler itself rather than adding new holes to your aluminum A-frame. Reusing your existing top-mount bolt pattern can help you avoid weakening the trailer frame and keep the install clean.

If you go this route, make sure you use properly sized Grade 8 hardware and torque everything to spec. It is also important that the new holes in the coupler are accurately measured and drilled so the bolts sit flat and secure.
