Question:
I did some maintenance on my dexter 10k trailer brakes earlier brakes this year. I had to take them apart again. When I did the maintenance earlier this year the little clips holding the magnet on were all missing. I know I installed the clips on when I did the maintenance. And now, after only a month or so, when I took them apart again, the clips are missing again. Is this a common problem? Arent the clips to keep the magnets from always rubbing against the side of the drum? Did they rub against the drum and disintegrate?

The magnet clips # BP19005 should not be making contact with the drum while the brakes engage, so I do not think that is the problem. What I think is going on is it's just not seating all the way. These can get a little squished or deformed causing this to happen, so it is fairly common.
When snapping in place, you definitely want to push it in harder than you would expect to. You should get a pretty solid click/snap when it is fully seated. You should be able to gently pull on the magnet at this point with it not coming off the post. I included an install video with these and at 5 minutes 55 seconds, it shows these being installed.
