Question:

How do I know what tow package to buy? I have a 2016 kia sorent LX/L, FWD, 3.3L V6. What is towing capacity and what do I buy?

From what I could find, it looks like your 2016 Kia Sedona has a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds and a tongue weight of up to 350 pounds. I did find some variation with that, so you will need to look at the inside door jamb on the driver side of the vehicle. This will have all the capacities listed that are specific to how yours was set up.

That being said, I suggest going with the etrailer.com custom fit Class III hitch # e98843. This will technically be rated higher than the vehicle is, but is a bolt on application.

The wiring harness will depend on how your Sorento came equipped from Kia. This can be easily verified by contacting a Kia dealer and having them run your VIN. This will confirm if you have the factory tow package or not. If you do end up having it, you will need the Curt # C56332. If you do not have this option, you will need the Tekonsha # 118583.
