Troubleshooting Trailer Deck Screws that are Breaking
Updated 04/28/2021 | Published 04/26/2021 >
Question:
Im curious about the best way to remove these old screws that have been installed for about 8 years or so. Some of these screws are breaking due to the boards over time warping and putting pressure on the screws. The screws break right at the frame and under the trailer, there is only about 3/8 of an inch available to try to use vice grips or other methods to remove. My thought is for some of these I may just replace the screws, but if I want to also replace a couple or all decking what is the best way to remove these screws.

If the screws part # TFX250ACQ are breaking that would indicate that they are corroded and seized up in the metal they are attaching to. So what you could do is take some spray lube to them where they attach to the metal and let that soak to see if that helps. Applying heat to the bolts too can help free them up as well.
