So we do have an option for air suspension kits for your 2004 Chevy Avalanche 1500 (so long as it does not have the AutoRide auto-leveling), but I checked directly with the manufacturers and there are no standard air bags that fit your truck. What does fit are air bags that install inside your truck's coil springs; so while they don't fit the same way as air bags on the axle, these springs do provide a great deal of added suspension support.
Like standard air bags, the air bags that fit in your coil springs support your OEM suspension, helping level it out to reduce squat. When you do this, your truck's front end won't be raised up, meaning the front wheels are going to make more contact with the ground. This naturally improves your handling and braking, and as an added bonus, your ride will be smoother with the support that air springs add. There are two options for your 2004 Chevy Avalanche 1500:
- Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F4108
- Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs # AL60769
I did want to mention the Air Lift as an option, as they have a higher psi capacity of between 5 and 35 psi compared to the 5 and 25 psi the Firestone springs are rated for. Also, during the installation of these air springs, you are going to want to ensure your air lines are cut perfectly straight, and the best way to do this is by using the Air Hose Cutter # AL10530.
With either of these options you can use a compressor, and you can go with a simple analog gauge with the Air Lift Load Controller II Compressor System for Air Helper Springs # AL25592, or make it really easy with the Air Command Compressor System with Light Duty Compressor - Wireless - Smartphone Enabled # F2610.
I have added links below to video reviews for you to check out as well of both air springs as well as the compressors.
