Question:
Hey, can you direct me to the best, highest rated, gooseneck and 5th wheel combo that I can install in my 2001 f550 cab and chassis truck. The truck has a 8 4 fontaine fiberglass bed on it. Also any information you may have to help install it. Thank you.

I have a solution for you, but there is not a custom fit gooseneck available for the 2001 Ford F-550 cab and chassis, so anything you choose will need to be custom fabricated and installed by a certified welder. I'll also say that I don't know how a fiberglass truck bed is going to hold up for this type of application, so you will want to be careful that nothing is attached to the truck bed so that you can avoid damaging it.
That said, you could likely use the Curt Gooseneck Flat Plate # C65500 and have custom brackets made that will attach to the frame of your truck and then have that plate welded to those brackets. This plate does have a maximum capacity of 30,000-lbs when connected directly to the frame, and would be the highest rated plates available.
When it comes to towing a 5th wheel trailer, you could use the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Single Jaw - 21,000 lbs # DM8550045, which is a 5th wheel hitch that connects to the gooseneck ball; this would be the best solution to tow a 5th wheel trailer once the gooseneck system is installed. For safety chains, the Fulton Safety Chain with 1/2" Clevis Hook - 42" Long - 45,200 lbs - Qty 1 # FCHA0070324 are the highest rated chains we have available, and would be a good addition to this setup.
As I mentioned above, there is not a custom fit gooseneck hitch for this truck, so anything you used would need to be fabricated or modified to fit on this particular truck cab and chassis. You will want to have any work done by a certified welder and any parts that are fabricated rated for your planned use.
