Question:
Have a 2001 Chevy 3500 dually. Added a Lance Camper, 96 long, 2400 lb dry weight. CG at 63. Need to tow an enclosed car trailer, estimating 800lb tongue load and 8000 lb loaded. Looking at changing to the Curt C15703 class V hitch, with the 2-1/2 extension 24. Also load levelers, Curt 17302. Do you see any concerns with this package and intended use? Thanks

Expert Reply:
For your 2001 Chevy Silverado 3500, I highly recommend Torklift # TLC1205-30. The SuperHitch Magnum has more than enough weight capacity to tow your trailer with a hitch extension. For your hitch extension TorkLift # TLE1524 is the most solid option to carry your enclosed trailer. The SuperTruss needs to be used with # TLWD1000, which is a weight distribution system. Your trailer is too heavy for the the Curt hitch # C15703 paired with a normal hitch extension like # C45048 because you are going to be maxing it out all the time and if you go over weight it is harder to get your weight distribution set up correctly.
TorkLift Products are heavy duty and are worth the investment especially when running a hitch extension while towing a heavy trailer.
You also need to check your trucks owners manual to make sure you aren't exceeding the gross combined weight rating.
