Question:
Vehicle already wired with a 4 pin and trailer has 6 pin round. Part A10-6034VP is what I need in terms of connections. However, the vehicle is wired with the 4 pin and trailer has the 6 pin connection. This part looks like it is for the opposite setup. Will it work both directions? and since I already am wired to the vehicle with the 4 pin connector, will I need the additional 3 wire shown for ground, etc? Or is there a simple adaptor that will give me the configuration like this part? I have been looking for a simple adaptor with this configuration and the only thing I come up with is the opposite configuration. That is, flat 4 pin has 3 female and 1 male pins and the 6 pin side is the receiver.

A vehicle end wiring harness using a 4-Way Flat connector should have 3 female plugs and 1 male pin. A matching 4-Way Flat trailer connector would have 3 male pins and 1 female plug like on the Mighty Cord Adapter 4-Way Flat to 6-Way Round, part # A10-6034VP.
The # A10-6034VP adapter is designed to plug into a 4-Way Flat on a vehicle and the 6-Way Round on the other end, with the male pins, will plug into a 6-Way Round on the trailer that has 6 female plugs.
I am including a link to a FAQ page on trailer wiring that will show you pictures of what the vehicle end connectors and trailer end connectors will look like on 4-way, 5-way, 6-way, and 7-way connectors.
If you only want to use the basic lighting functions provided by the 4-Way (left/right turn, brake, and running lights) then all you will need to do is plug the 4-Way end of the # A10-6034VP adapter, into the vehicle 4-Way. The trailer 6-Way will then plug into the 6-Way receptacle on the adapter. You will also need to ground the white wire on the adapter to the vehicle frame at a clean and corrosion free metal surface. The remaining wires (blue for electric brakes or reverse lights, and black for 12 volt power) can be taped up and stowed out of the way.
If you do need to use the other 2 wires, the blue wire is connected to the blue wire supplying power to the brakes from the brake controller if your trailer has electric brakes, or if your trailer has hydraulic brakes then the blue wire would be attached to the backup light circuit so that the trailer brake lockout will engage when the vehicle is in reverse.
The black wire is the battery lead and is ran to the positive terminal of the battery, via a 40 amp circuit breaker ( # PK54540) for charging the battery of the trailer or 12 volt power for other accessories.
