Question:

The answer given of 7.25 inches is in the opposite direction of what I intended. I need to know the distance from the hitch pin hole to the front of the shank, i.e., the part of the shank sticking into the receiver hitch.

I ran out to the warehouse, and pulled one of the # AMAC1 shanks. I found that the distance from the end of the shank that would insert into the hitch receiver to the center of the hitch pin hole is exactly 2-11/16 inches, as you can see in the accompanying photo.
