Suspension Enhancement for a 2013 Toyota 4Runner and Finding a Proper Lift Kit for a Travel Trailer

Question:

Hi, I’m towing a 2019 Geo-Pro, dry weight is 3144 lbs, tongue weight is 414 lbs. I’m towing with a 2013 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4 with a V-6 engine, AT. The 4Runner is stock with no lift. I use a weight distribution hitch with anti-sway bars, but still have about 2 inches of rear sag, so considering adding either Timbren Bumps or Jounce Springs or Firestone Air Bags. I don’t off-road, but I would like to do some dispersed camping which could entail some rougher roads. I am also looking at adding the Dexter Trailer Lift to my Geo-Pro. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you

For your 2013 Toyota 4Runner, the Timbren Jounce Spring you referenced, part # TTORSEQ, are the perfect suspension enhancement. The benefit of choosing jounce springs over air bags is not having to constantly adjust them since they are a progressive suspension (i.e. they gradually get firmer as the weight increases). They have a 6000-lb capacity and give you a much more comfortable ride, absorbing road shock and improving roll stability. I've linked to a video installation of these for you to reference.

As for adding a lift kit to your travel trailer, we may have what you need. First, though, you will need to know the brand of your axle (you can find this by either identifying a tag on the axle itself or calling your trailer's manufacturer with your VIN number). If you happen to have a Torflex axle, we have a selection of those lift kits available here. I've linked to a list of those below as well.
