Does the Pollak Cycling Auto Reset Circuit Breaker Prevent Backfeed

Updated 12/18/2020 | Published 12/16/2020

Question:

Does the Pollak Cycling Auto Reset Circuit Breaker prevent backfeed one way direction like a diode? Im wondering if I need a second device, such as RM-690 to keep the circuit one way. I want to connect the 7-way plug coming from tow vehicle to the breakaway switch battery with the battery bank in my enclosed utility trailer but Im concerned about limiting the amperage to match the wiring, so I dont burn up the wire. Question stems from needing to use 2 gauge wire connecting batteries in engine compartment, which I presume is a similar concept. Note the factory installed power wire to the 7-way plug is connected directly to the aux battery in engine compartment with with a 20 amp ATO fuse.

That's a good question, but the answer is no, the 30 amp Circuit Breaker - Cycling Auto Reset # PK54230 does not prevent backfeed in the same manner as a diode.

To prevent backfeeding, what you can use is exactly what you mentioned, a diode, the Roadmaster Single Park Light Diode # RM-690.

I have added a link below to a video review of the circuit breaker for you to check out as well if you'd like.
