Question:

I'm looking at the Curt LC158778 air ride 5th wheel hitch and the LC369535. I have an Anderson 5th wheel hitch in my truck. Would you recommend the LC158778 over the LC369535 with an Anderson hitch since it doesn't have the pin pivot plate on the bottom? Also what do these hitches weight?

Hello again Joel; I would recommend the Curt Air Ride 5th Wheel Pin Box # LC158778 over the Flex Air # LC369535. The pivoting head from the Flex Air causes too much movement so it actually isn't compatible with the Andersen hitch. Since the Air Ride is just a cushioned pin box it can be used with the Andersen. The Air Ride weighs 184 lbs and the Flex Air is 232 lbs.

Edit: With the updated information from below I recommend the MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box # MR37VR. This fits your 1716 bolt pattern and is rated for your GVWR of 13,800 lbs.

Any big trips planned with your 2020 Genesis Vortex 2815V once you upgrade your pin box?

Thanks Robin, One more thing. I have a 2020 Genesis Vortex 2815V on a Lippert chassis. How do I know if I have the 1621 or the 1621HD hitch mount or is it pretty much standard on the Lippert chassis?

@JoelG sorry I assumed you already knew you had the 1621 or 1621HD. It is pretty standard but you don't want to assume the bolt pattern for a pin box like this and have to return it if you're wrong. If you can pull the LCI number off of the tag on your pin box and reply again in the comments here I can find out which one it is. If you're missing the tag and nothing else on it identifies the pin box you can measure the bolt pattern. I attached a help article below which explains how to measure.

@RobinH Robin, after using your measuring guide, apparently I have a Lippert 1716 pin box on my 5th wheel. Do they make an Air Ride hitch for it?

@JoelG the 1716 model was discontinued in 2022. What you can use instead is the MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box which is also compatible with the Andersen hitch. I went ahead and added the correct part number based on your GVWR to the bottom of the original answer above.
