  • How to Protect Circuit Breakers and Electrical Connections on a Trailer
I strongly recommend protecting any circuit breakers, including the Pollak 30-Amp Auto Reset Circuit Breaker, # PK54230, from the elements. Corrosion and road grime can build up on the terminals and cause problems. We typically use junction boxes, like part # PK52249, to protect electrical contacts on a trailer. These boxes have rubber grommets in the access holes for wires to keep water and dirt out. They can bolt to any surface strong enough to hold a plastic box.

  • Does the Pollak Cycling Auto Reset Circuit Breaker Prevent Backfeed
That's a good question, but the answer is no, the 30 amp Circuit Breaker - Cycling Auto Reset # PK54230 does not prevent backfeed in the same manner as a diode. To prevent backfeeding, what you can use is exactly what you mentioned, a diode, the Roadmaster Single Park Light Diode # RM-690. I have added a link below to a video review of the circuit breaker for you to check out as well if you'd like.

  • Best Type of Trailer Brake Controller for Use on 1999 Honda Gold Wing 1500
Brake controllers for trailer brakes are not vehicle-specific but due to the necessary method of installing one on a motorcycle (in whatever available space you might have) means that a time-delay type will be better than a proportional controller. Time-delay type units like the Draw-Tite Activator IV # 5504 do not require the specific mounting angle/orientation that is essential for proper operation of proportional units like the Prodigy P2 # 90885. Brake controllers use 4 wires for hookup....

  • How to Pick Out a Replacement Circuit Breaker
Without knowing what the rating of the circuit breaker you have it would be hard for me to determine what would be the correct replacement just based on the picture you submitted. Your best option would be to find the installation instructions for the product that the circuit breaker is used on and determine what the manufacturer recommends for circuit breaker rating. If it happens to be for a brake controller then a 30 amp breaker like the # PK54230PL that you referenced would be the...

  • Circuit Breaker Size for Brake Controller Install Towing 2 and 3 Axle Trailers
If you planned to tow both a 2 axle and a 3 axle trailer you'd want to just use a 30 amp breaker like the part # PK54230. It wouldn't be necessary to go down to a lower rated breaker when towing the 2 axle trailer.

  • Plugged In Electric Fireplace And Lost Power To Two Axle Wildwood Trailer
It sounds to me like you may have overloaded your trailer's circuit by plugging those two heaters in at the same time. What I recommend you do is install a 30 amp circuit breaker like # PK54230. This will protect your trailer's electrical circuits from situations like that happening again. A couple good "rule of thumb" suggestions is to plug appliances directly into outlets, not extensions cords. Extension cords add receptacles to plug into but do not change the amount of power being received...

  • What Are The Functions Of Each Of The Wires On Draw-Tite I-Command Trailer Brake Controller
I would be happy to identify the functions of the wires on your Draw-Tite I-Command Trailer Brake Controller # 5535. The wire functions are as follows: Black wire is to be connected to vehicle battery with 30 amp circuit breaker like the # PK54230. White wire to ground Blue wire to trailer brake wire Red wire to cold side of brake pedal switch which only has power when brakes are applied. To determine the functions of your vehicle pigtail you will need a circuit tester like the # PTW2993. I...

It sounds like you are hardwiring your Prodigy P2 # 90885 trailer brake controller. • Replacement Circuit Breaker for Husky Brute Electric Trailer Jack HB4500
The reset switch you referred to on the Husky Brute Electric Trailer Jack part # HT87247 is a 30 amp circuit breaker with a manual reset feature. In order to replace this you could use pretty much any 30 amp circuit breaker like at a local automotive store but I recommend the Circuit Breaker part # PK54230PL because it has an auto-reset feature as the name states will automatically reset once the short is fixed. Once you cut the wires from the old switch you can then attach them to the...

The easiest way to install a Tekonsha trailer brake controller like the Voyager # 39510 in your 2005 Ford F-150 that has a factory 7-way is to use wiring adapter # 3035-P. This plugs in between the controller and the under-dash port as shown in the linked installation video at the 20-second mark. No cutting or splicing of wires is required. • Which Value Circuit Breaker for Installing Primus IQ Brake Controller TK90160
When hardwiring a trailer brake controller like the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 either a 20-amp or 30-amp circuit breaker will provide operating power for the controller itself. The choice depends on whether the trailer has one braked axle (use the 20-amp value # PK54520) or if it has two or three braked axles (use a 30-amp breaker # PK54230). For your 12V wiring to your 7-way, we have people running many different things off that 12V wire. 12 gauge or even better 10 gauge ensures that the power is transferred timely and accurately. We have a kit for brake controllers and 12V wiring for the 7-ways # 5506 that we've used for years. It uses 10 gauge wire and has a 20 amp, 30 amp and 40 amp circuit breaker. Normally the 30 amp # PK54230 or the 40 amp # 9510 is what we recommend with the 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 for your application.
