Question:

All the wiring diagrams only deal with the 4 wires for lighting. In addition, I need to run power to my vehicle to unlock the steering as well as the brake signal. How many wires are in the cable? 4? 6? Cable connector mount, vehicle side: Is one really provided? It is not pictured in the complete parts view, but there IS one in an auxiliary picture. 1998 Tacoma SR5 4WD

The wiring of the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 does come with four wires for the tail lights and turn signals.

However, it comes with a vehicle-side 6-way (which you will connect to the 7-wire to 6-wire cord) that you can wire as needed with 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1.

I have added links below to a couple video installs as well for you to check out of this harness. They are on different vehicles than your 1998 Tacoma but are examples of the install process which I hope you find to be useful.
