The best way for you to carry a kayak with your towed 2010 Mini Cooper is with a roof rack and an attached kayak carrier. This will allow you to utilize the towed vehicle rather than trying to work around it.
One of the main attractions of a Mini Cooper is it's low profile. Keeping that in mind, we have a great combination of roof rack and carrier that will keep that low profile when the kayak is not attached.
The roof rack is the Inno Roof Rack kit using the Aero Crossbars, part # INXB93-2. The additional pieces of the kit are included in the link I've attached. This kit employs the Flush Feet, ensuring the bars don't extend outward. I've linked to a video review of this roof rack as well.
The kayak carrier is the Inno Locker, part # INA446. This carrier is extremely versatile and offers some of the easiest loading of all our kayak carriers. It also has a low profile when the kayak is not attached. I've linked to a video review of this carrier, too.
