Question:

Hi. We have a Patriot that we use when towing this car. We had a battery bypass installed. A cord comes out of the passenger side which we plug into the Patriot. Then plug the Patriot into the the battery hole So, what position should the car key be in? We have it completely off and the radio frequency sensor In the RV says check battery. Help!

The 04 low battery alert code on the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR indicates that either the towed car's battery is depleted or that there is another issue such as a dirty 12V power outlet that is not passing enough power. The cigarette lighter outlet that powers the Patriot must output at least 13.1 volts for proper operation.

Check the condition of the vehicle battery to ensure it is fully charged; you can use an AC-power charger like # CTEK56353 to ensure the toad battery is fully charged before heading out.

The position of the key of your towed vehicle will be based on what the owners manual of your vehicle states for recreational towing. Since you are using a power wire from the vehicle battery directly for the Patriot I do not believe the ignition position of your vehicle is affecting this.
