Pulling A 5th Wheel With Our 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 With A 5-1/2 Foot Bed

Question:

We are considering buying a Rockwood Signature 5th wheel that weighs 7587 lbs., has a payload capacity of 1537 lbs. and hitch weight of 1089 lbs. It comes with a Reese Revolution Hitch. Our Dodge Ram Tradesman is a 4-door and has a 67 in bed. It has a towing capacity of 10100 pounds, but Im not sure about the payload capacity. Do you think our truck is capable of pulling it, and if so, which hitch would you recommend?

If your 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 has the V8 option you'll be perfectly fine to haul your Rockwood Signature 5th Wheel. I suggest getting the Reese Dual Jaw 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047 which has a capacity of 16,000 lbs. That is plenty of meat to be able to haul your 5th wheel no problem! You will also need to get the Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail # RP30035-386. This comes with everything you need and you can get a better idea of how what all comes with this if you watch the video I've included!

I suggest using the Reese Revolution hitch that comes with the camper. You could convert the 5th wheel to a gooseneck adapter by using this # CAB-C5GX1216 but we do not carry a gooseneck system for your 67 inch bed. The Reese Dual Jaw 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047 is the way to go!
