Possible Guide Upgrade for CE Smith 65" Guide Ons To Prevent Bending

Question:

Hello, I purchased the 65” guide on for a 24’ Pontoon boat and wondering if there is an upgraded or more heavier duty bracket to use when installing this kit. I’ve been told that the bracket fails for larger pontoon boats. I haven’t tried these yet but wanted to ask if there was a kit. I have a photo from another aftermarket kit that I can share. This addition would make this kit even more robust if needed. Thanks for the great products!

The guide 65” poles/markers on the CE Smith # CE27637 Guide Ons are only meant as markers to show you where the trailer is. While they can endure some pressure in relation to a straight on approach, off angle pressure which can occur with water currents, high wind, and off angle approaches, can cause damage to the guide poles and/or brackets. The leverage exerted by the long poles can cause the poles or brackets to bend. In a way this is good as that much leverage would otherwise bend or damage the trailer frame.

If you frequently find yourself in these situations a CE Smith # CE27610 Roller-Style Guide-On which has a short mount would be able to provide more strength and guidance in this situation.

I have attached a link to this product page and to a video installation guide.
