Question:

I need to have a brake controller installed on my 2020 Jeep GC. It was suggested I call U-Haul for an installation but they said they couldnt wire it because it was too complicated on the newer Jeep models. There was a brake controller wire in the glove box when we purchased it image attached so how could this be used? They suggested I use a Bluetooth brake controller but Id like to get to the bottom of the wired option. Im interested in the Tekonsha P3.

In order to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 on a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee it's super simple. You have the option of hardwiring the plug that comes with the controller to the plug that comes with the vehicle (usually in glove box) or you can opt for a complete plug-in-play installation via the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # TK93VR. There's a plug under the dash the harness plugs into then you'll need to mount the brake controller but that's it.

That said, unless you'll be towing daily the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 is a better choice since you don't have to drill into the dash to mount it.
