Question:

Hi i installed the EJ-3520-BBX to replace the factory jack of the same type that wasn’t working. all went well for the first three trips but now the jack won’t work and the light won’t come on. on the last trip it started raining and the jack worked while it was raining but then stopped working after that and still won’t work. what could the issue be?

Helpful Expert Reply:

Can the jack be operated manually? Try using the manual crank that was included with the jack to ensure the mechanism is operating freely.

It may sound very obvious, but make sure the trailer mounted battery is fully charged and that the wire connection to the battery is secure. If the jack is powered by its connection to the 12 volt circuit on the trailer connector, make sure that circuit is active and the fuse that protects it hasn't blown.

Sometimes, if the powder coating on the jack's mounting flange is too thick, it can prevent a good ground connection. try sanding the underside of the mounting flange to bare metal around the bolt holes, and use some star washers sandwiched between the mounting flange and the surface of the A-frame. A star washer will get a good bite into the trailer tongue and the mounting flange and ensure a good and reliable ground connection.
