2019 Tiguan Cannot Get Bolt to Thread Left Rear Bolt
Updated 09/08/2020 | Published 09/03/2020 >
Question:
hello, all went well until tried to thread left rear bolt and it will not take. holes lined up perfect but will not thread...even took hitch off and will not even thread then, feels like the plate is connected within the beam between the two holes but cannot thread....have you heard of this? Next stop will be VW if nothing else. Thanks! The other hitches we put on have always gone well.

On the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13381 uses M10-1.5 bolts to hold it in place. What we run into all the time is fouling of the weld nut located in the frame rails of the VW Tiguan. I recommend using a nylon or wire brush and some lubricant to clean it out. Test again with the bolt if it will not thread at that point clean the weld nut with a M10-1.5 tap and all will be well.
Check out the video we made on how the process works.
