Can 1/2 Inch Wheel Studs be Replaced by 9/16 Inch Wheel Studs
Updated 08/17/2020 | Published 08/12/2020 >
Question:
Can you replace 1/2x20 studs with 9/16x18 in the wheel hub so you can use different rims. I see both are offered when you purchase an axle but its not specified if they are interchangeable in the same hub. tks.

It is possible to change your studs from 1/2" to 9/16" if you use drive-in studs and the the length and knurl diameter of the studs is the same, such as the 0.685" knurl diameter of the Kodiak Wheel Bolt - 9/16" # K916WB25.
This will require you to have some very specific measurements or you'd need to change out your hub to get the correct size wheel bolts. It may also be easier to simply get different rims that will work with the wheel bolt size you have. I have added a link to our selection of 9/16" wheel bolts as well as our trailer wheels for you if you decide to go that route.
