A tow bar is one of the parts needed to flat tow your 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. An installation guide is located on the product page. You will also need a base plate, safety cables, a braking system, and lighting system. I would recommend the RoadMaster Stowmaster Tow Bar # RM-501. With the weight of the Trailblazer being 4600 lbs, this particular bar is effective in the event you decide to pack heavy items within the towed vehicle, increasing its weight while traveling. I have provided a link to our flat towing FAQ page.
I will start with the base plate first. I recommend the RoadMaster XL Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms # 3109-1. It provides hidden brackets to attach to your vehicle and the visible portions of the brackets can be removed when you are not towing.
For your wiring needs, I recommend the RoadMaster Standard Magnetic Tow Lights # RM-2120. With this kit, you will not have to splice into your 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazers existing wiring system. You can also use a bulb and socket kit or a diode kit, which provide a more permanent and hidden solution if you plan to tow your vehicle often.
You will also need Safety Cables # RM-643. I am including a link to our FAQ page on wiring and tow lighting to provide you with other alternatives as well.
Since most states require a towed vehicle to carry a braking system, I recommend the RoadMaster Even Brake Portable Braking System # RM-9400. It is a portable, proportionally-towed car braking system that is very easy to install and use. The wireless monitor keeps you informed of braking conditions and power level while the included breakaway kit guards against towing system failure. This unit works for vehicles with either electric seats or non-electric seats. I have included a link to our braking system FAQ page.
Finally, be sure to consult your vehicles owners manual for information regarding the flat towing of your 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
