light with black green and red wire. i hooked the black to ground red to green on rt side and to yellow on lt side and green to brown. i still dont have tail light

So sometimes trailer wiring and taillight wiring end up using wire colors that are different from standard. It's frustrating but the only solution is to first verify what all of the functions of the wires are and then wire accordingly.
You can use a vehicle battery to verify the functions of the lights first and then use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to verify wiring by having it connected to a vehicle and then test the wires while all of the taillight functions are applied.
