Trailer Jack Replacement Recommendation for a 6,000 lb Snowmobile Trailer

Question:
I have a 6000 lb capacity enclosed snowmobile V front 24 foot trailer with 2 3000 lb axles. It came with a Fulton bolt through the frame jack which someone ran into in a parking lot and broke. The specs are worn off of it. I am curious as to how much jack I need in the front? Thanks

At capacity your trailer will weigh 6,000 lbs plus the weight of your trailer. You will need to pick a jack that can safely handle the maximum tongue weight that your trailer will see. Tongue weight is usually 10-15 percent of the total weight of the trailer. So if you use 6,000 lbs as the total weight of the trailer you would have a tongue weight of 600-900 lbs.
The Dutton-Lainson Trailer Jack # DL22800 that you referenced has a capacity of 1,500 lbs. Although this seems to be a lot more than you would need it would make an excellent choice as you would know that you would never exceed the capacity of the jack.
