Expert Reply:
Both the frame mount hitch # 13703 and the bumper mount # E-100 have 2 inch receivers. Both are rated for 350 pounds tongue weight and 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight.
The bumper mount E-100 is more limited as to what it will fit on. First, the bumper has to be rated for use with a hitch. It must be a 4 inch square continuous welded steel bumper. A bumper mount hitch in general is not as stable as a frame mount.
The frame mount 13703 can be bolted or welded on. It fits box frames, I-beam frames, and C-channel frames that measure 22 to 72 inches wide when measuring from outside to outside. These features make the frame mount hitch much more versatile and the fact that it is a frame mount means it will be more stable. If you choose to weld it on, any welding should be done by a qualified professional.
For either of these hitches if you will be carrying any non-trailer load such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, Curt states you must use a stabilization strap, # 18050, for their warranty requirements.
