Question:
Do you need to put pipe dope our plumbers tape on the male end of the hose

Expert Reply:
You will not have to put any type of sealant on the Sturgis Propane Pigtail # 100575-12-MBS becuase the fitting type is an inverted flare.
If you are wanting to take the precaution just to prevent the waste of your gas and/or wanting to prevent the gas from entering into an unwanted space, you need Thread Sealant Tape for Gas Lines Item # 37207-30025. This will seal up any leaks if there is any. I've included videos if you would like to get more info on these products. Whenever you use tape with propane you need to use sealant tape and not plumbers tape. Sealant tape is usually yellow.
