Brake Controller Recommendation for 2001 Chevy Suburban

Question:

Please provide advice on selecting the appropriate electric brake controller. This will be my first time towing a trailer with electric brakes. The primary use for the travel trailer is to across the US using interstate highways. The secondary use is to travel on dirt roads to unimproved campsites. Travel Trailer: GAWR, 2900 pounds Approximate dimensions 15.5 Ft. Long x 8.5 Ft. Tall x 7 Ft Wide Tow Vehicle: 2001 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 4x4 As I understand it a combined electric brake controller allows proportional control for highway use and time-delayed control for dirt roads. Features that I like are: the controller is not dependent on installation orientation and adjustment is easily at hand when driving to dampen swaying. I am gravitating to one of these three controllers. Let me know your opinions on them and other controllers that may be a better fit for my application. We can definitely help you pick out a brake controller for your 2001 Chevy Suburban 1500. Based on what you mentioned wanting from a brake controller the Redarc Tow Pro Elite part # RED44FR is the way to go. And then to install it in your 2001 Chevy Suburban you'd just need the part # 3025-S and you'd be set.

This controller installs with the main unit out of sight and then allows you to put the small control knob anywhere in your interior that would work best for you. To activate the manual override you just press the button in the event of sway.
