Question:
Pulling a trailer threw the Rockies, I have a uhaul trailer that weighs 900 pounds and have loaded approx 900-1000 pounds into it. Have a Jeep Wrangler unlimited 2019. Is it to much weight to pull in the mountains ? From western Colorado going to chesterfield Mo.

Expert Reply:
Since you have a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with a 3,500 lb trailer tow weight rating you should be just fine towing a 1,800 lb loaded trailer. To do this I recommend using the following:
etrailer Trailer Hitch - # e98856
Tekonsha T-One Wiring - # 118786 (with mounting brackets # 18136 and # 18144)
Curt Ball Mount - # D-28
Pin & Clip - # C21500
Hitch Ball - # 63845
I've attached some installation videos for you to check out.
I took a look at the 900 lb U-Haul trailer and this combination will get the hitch ball at the correct height for your towing. The only thing that makes be nervous is that you'll be coming down the mountains without brakes. Most vehicle manufacturers recommend brakes for trailers over 1,000 lbs loaded and then require brakes at 2,000 lbs. Since you're near that 2,000 lb mark it would be better to have trailer brakes, but I also understand that you'll just be renting the trailer so you wouldn't be able to modify that kind of stuff. Just makes sure that you're very careful on the mountains and be sensitive to what's going on around you (more-so than normal driving).
