Question:
What is the backspace on this wheel?
asked by: Harry
Expert Reply:
The Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - Silver Powder Coat # AM20539 is a 6 inch wide wheel with zero offset, so the backspacing is 3 inches. Zero Offset means the mounting surface of the wheel and the mounting surface of the hub are directly centered on the wheel as well as the tire when it is installed. The inside sidewall of the tire will have an increased backspace as the tires will be wider than the wheel.
For example, the Provider ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15" White Mod Wheel - 6 on 5-1/2 - Load Range D # TA27VR is zero offset so the wheel will have a 3 inch backspace but the tire is 7.99 inches wide so the total backspace will be 4 inches with the tire installed for frame clearance.
