Question:
2017 Highlander. Some photos show this hitch even with the bumper. Some show it sticking out a little. I would prefer a hitch that doesn’t stick past he bumper so it does bang into my knees. Can you tell me anything about this model on the car?

The Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch Receiver part # DT65MR does stick out past the bumper by quite a bit. Close to 3". For the one that sticks out the least use the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98844 This one has the shortest receiver tube and will only stick out about a half an inch. It has a really nice durable matte finish too that looks great for a really long time.
If you have the need for lights the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118449 is a very solid choice. The Tekonsha wiring is very reliable. It will allow you to plug in any 4 way flat connector if you should need it.
If you need a ball mount kit for a trailer use the etrailer ball mount kit part # 989900. It will give you alot of options for many different uses and comes with a carrying bag not only for the ball mounts but anything else you might want to throw in there like gloves.
I added links to both of these pages as well as the installation videos for you to check out.
