Does Prodigy P3 Brake Controller Eventually Shut Itself Off With No Activity

does the brake control always stay illuminated even with the key off and unpluged from the trailer.

After 10 minutes of inactivity the Prodigy P3 part # 90195 will go into sleep mode which means it basically shuts itself off without losing presets.

thank you for your answer, but I installed brake controller per instructions and your video, but with the key off and not hooked to trailer for 15 hours it still is illuminated, is this normal? Thanks

The screen should eventually go dark (sometimes it takes up to 30 minutes), but it can turn back on by something as simple as opening the truck's door. Are you seeing it lit after this long when just looking through the window?

yes I have the 2019 Chevy Colorado in the garage, the controller was lit up when I looked this morning, I never touched the truck or opened the door I looked thru the window, I would like to finish my installation but am concerned something may not be right. I was able to find the 4 wires under the threshold which made the install very easy. let me know if there is something wrong with the controller, Thanks

I'm pretty sure you have everything wired up correctly. This sounds like it could be an internal issue on the controller, but it hopefully can be resolved be the ole turn it off and back on trick. Try completely unplugging it from power, leaving it be for a few minutes, and plugging it back in - this will essentially reset the unit. If this doesn't resolve the issue please let me know and we can go from there.

@ChrisR I have the P3 controller. I used the harness that I purchased for my 2014 GMC.The controller stays lit 24 hours after installation. I have disconnected it for over 30 minutes, but upon reconnecting the screen will not go blank. What could be wrong with the unit?
