P 1 code I can hold the brakes manually have power to the trailer it goes off in about 20 seconds

The P.L. code that you are seeing on your Tekonsha Primus IQ Brake Controller part # TK90160 means there is a power interruption while the brake pedal is depressed. This typically is caused by a bad or insufficient ground. You can test this by attaching the white wire from this controller directly to the negative side of a vehicle battery to see if the problem goes away.
