Does Longer Ball Mount With 3/4 Inch Rise for Class II 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch Affect Towing

Question:

class 2 ball mount. I currently have a ball mount 3/4 inch rise, 1 1/4 inch hitch that is only 5 inches long. Id like to have a second ball mount. Closest thing I can find is on that is 6 3/4 inch long. Would that affect the towing and how. Wont use it very much and for short trips 30 miles.

You can absolutely use a ball mount longer than your current which is 5 inches long and there will not be any type of negative affect on your towing. We do have ball mounts that will work with a Class II, 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch and that have the right amount of rise for you:

- 7" Long: Draw-Tite Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitches - 5/8" Rise, 1-1/4" Drop # 36051

- 9-3/4" Long: Draw Tite Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitch - 5/8" Rise, 1-1/4" Drop # 36053

Both of these ball mounts come with a pin and clip but you can secure them to your hitch with a lock, the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98879. For a hitch ball with these you will need (depending on your trailer's coupler) either 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # 19256 or 2" Hitch Ball # 19258.
