Can I add a Second Non Ducted A/C Unit if my Camper has a Ducted System From the Factory?

Question:

Is it possible to have a ducted system and add a non-ducted system for enhanced cooling? My original thought was to upgrade my current 13500 BTU AC unit with a 15000 unit in the hope of achieving a better cooling solution, but was told that wouldn’t get more then a few degree advantage. Just trying to find the best solution. My unit is a Jayflight 28RLS.

Absolutley! We have installed a lot of second units on motor homes and campers for this exact reason. While the factory units are adequate for most temperatures they just don't have the power needed to really get it cool cool in there. You can add the Atwood Air Command Rooftop RV Air Conditioner - 11.3 Amps - 13,500 Btu - Non-Ducted - White part # AT15025-21 to your camper at any of the already existing vents that are on your ceiling or you may even have an already existing location there. In a lot of cases whether the vent is powered or not it will have wires there for you to make your connections to the A/C unit. A non ducted unit will use controls attached directly to the A/C unit and give you the ability to adjust the temperature as necessary to meet your needs.

The Atwood unit has all of the parts your going to need to do your complete installation with the exception of a couple of wire nuts for the wiring connections. These should be on your powered vent and if not are readily available at your local hardware store.
