Base Plate that Fits 2013 Jeep Wrangler With American Expedition Tubeless Bumper

Published 02/20/2020

Question:

Hi-I have a 2013 Jeep Rubicon JKU with an aftermarket AEV front bumper. It looks like the Roadmaster 1444-1 is compatible with the AEV tubeless front bumper. Is this correct? Thanks,

I do have an option for you but the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms part # 1444-1 is only a fit for the 10th anniversary edition of the Jeep.

I recommend Blue Ox Base Plate Kit part # BX1133 which fits the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with American Expedition tubeless bumper. This is the only base plate that fits this bumper at this time. Then you can use the Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar part # BX7420 which is a non-binding design that comes with the safety cables so you won't need to worry about purchasing those. I did add a video of this tow bar for your reference.

If you already have a Roadmaster tow bar, you can use an adapter to adapt the Roadmaster tow bar to the Blue Ox Base plate. If you have a Roadmaster's Blackhawk, Falcon, or Sterling tow bar with serial numbers up to 16,500 you can use adapter part # RM-031. If you have a Roadmaster Nighthawk or Sterling tow bars with serial numbers above 16,501 you need adapter part # RM-031-5.

If you do not have wiring, I recommend Roadmaster Tow bar wiring: part # RM-15267 and Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System part # RM-8700 if you do not have a braking system.

Finally you may need a high low adapter to tow the vehicle level with the motor home. In order to know how much rise or drop it will require to tow level some measuring is required. I have attached a helpful article that helps you figure out which high low adapter may be needed and our selection of high low adapters.
