How to Measure the Bolt Hole Pattern of a Trailer Wheel

Question:
We ordered new 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern wheels for a 1998 US Cargo trailer and they didnt fit. The size is 4 5/8, any idea where I can find this size and why it is such an awkward size?

Expert Reply:
That is an awkward size, I have not heard of a bolt pattern of 5 on 4-5/8. I would recommend measuring from the center of one bolt hole to the center of an adjacent bolt hole and use that measurement to determine your bolt pattern.
If this measurement is 2-5/8 inches, then the bolt pattern on your wheels should be 5 on 4-1/2. If this measurement is 2-3/4 inches, then the bolt pattern should be 5 on 4-3/4.
I have attached an FAQ article on determining bolt hole pattern for you to check out. If you have any further questions after finding that measurement, then let me know so we can solve this issue.
