Question:
Nothing fits my 2012 Escape. The opening is much smaller than my previous Explorer. Is there a conversion kit or must I order the 1-1/4inch size hitch covers?

The two hitch receiver sizes that fit on a 2012 Ford Escape are 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch. We carry hitch covers that fit both sizes. I am including a link to a few of the Ford branded hitch covers in both sizes.
We offer the Brophy Hitch Adapter, part # HTAD, that will adapt a 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver size to a 2 inch hitch receiver size. With this adapter installed in your 1-1/4 inch hitch it will allow you to use 2 inch hitch covers. You will not want to tow using the # HTAD adapter, it is for hitch accessories only.
If you want to lock the adapter to your hitch I would recommend the Hitch Lock, part # e98879, and if you want to lock a 2-inch hitch cover to your adapter use the Hitch Lock, part # e98880.
