Adjustable Hitch for I Beam Frame 5th Wheel with 75" Wide Frame

Published 02/06/2020

Question:

Do you folks know if anyone installed this on a 2017 Cardinal 3250RL 5th wheel? Outside measurement of the, I Frameinch was 75 inches. Under belly matting installed. So Im assuming inside of frame across would be 72 to 71 inch range. Any advice appreciated, thanks.

We haven't installed the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13703 on a 2017 Cardinal 3250RL, however it sounds like your assumption is correct. If the outside dimensions of your I beam are 75", that should make the inside around 71-72". However, assuming is never a good thing. I do recommend that you temporarily remove the under belly, at least at the back and measure the inside dimensions.

If you are going to be using the hitch for a bike rack or cargo carrier, the Ultra-Fab 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver for Trailer Frames # UF35-946403 is another option. This hitch is not recommended for towing, but fits frames from 47" - 77" so there is no assuming or guessing. The Ultra Fab # UF35-946403 is a weld on hitch, and gussets may be required for your I beam frame.

You can check both the hitches out with the links provided. I also included an install video of the Curt, it's on a different camper but it will give you an idea of what goes into the install.
