Curt or Draw-Tite Front Mount Hitch for 2018 Ram 2500

Question:

Hello, have a 2108 RAM 2500 crewcab 8ft bed. What do you recommend the CURT C31089 or the DRAWTITE 65063? Seems to me the curt is lower app. on the receiver and would better to haul taller stuff and possibly be easier it install. But the receiver would be closer to ground and reducing ground clearance. Please any expertise advice or experience would be grateful. I personally will never be installing a snowplow on my truck If that is a issue. Thanks

I am happy to recommend a front mount hitch for your 2018 Ram 2500, but I did want to first point out that the Curt # C31089 that you mentioned is not designed for your truck. This particular hitch is designed to fit the 2019 model Ram 2500, so it's not going to line up to the frame rails on your 2018 Ram.

The correct Curt Front Hitch for your 2018 Ram 2500 is the part # C31015 as long as you have the 4WD. The Draw-Tite # 65063 you referenced as well is also a confirmed fit. Between these two options I do recommend the Curt model for your particular application.

You are right that the Curt hitch sits further down on the bumper than the Draw-Tite alternative, but not so much so that it really reduces the truck's existing ground clearance. This is because you will be trimming a small opening on the fascia to allow the 2" receiver to protrude through, maintaining the ground clearance you have right now without a hitch installed. I have attached an image of the hitch mounted so you can see exactly what I mean.

Even though you don't have any plans to attach a snow plow, this lower mounting point does allow you to haul taller cargo like you mentioned and does offer a bit of an easier install process. You also don't need to worry about the hitch blocking any airflow to the truck's cooling system like you could potentially run into with the Draw-Tite.
