Why Doesn't Polar Hinge # PLR3408-PS Have a Weight Capacity

Question:

how much weight can this hinge handle? i want use it for our boats engine hatch that i am building....i plan on using 2 hinges......

Polar does not give specific weight capacities for their hinges as the dimensions of the door would make a specific number too difficult to state as well as different applications might carry the weight differently. Like if you had a 20 lb door that was 2 feet wide vs. a 20 lb door that was 5 feet wide. The hinges would have more stress on them with the wider door due to the additional leverage. You'll have to use your best judgment but for a boat hatch two of the # PLR3408-PS would work well. These are stainless steel and pretty heavy duty. See attached review video for more info as well.
