Replacement 4-Way Trailer Wiring Connector for 2004 Ford Ranger
Published 11/29/2019 >
Question:
I need to repair the 4-pin trailer wiring. A previous owner butt spliced a 4-pin harness to the factory harness on the driver side of the hitch after cutting off any OEM connector. Any trailer connected triggers the anti-theft system killing the ignition. I really hate hacks! I desire to either 1 renew the 4-pin on the T that has been cut off and connect a new 4-pin OR 2 splice into the factory wire harness connector at the junction of the T with a new 4-pin. Either way I will remove the existing garbage work. Do you have parts suggestions please? I dont need a 7-pin but can add one with the 4-pin if necessary for this fix.

The easiest and best solution we have to give you a 4-way harness on your 2004 Ford Ranger is with the Hopkins kit part # HM40655. This plugs inline with the taillights of the truck and gives you a 4-way that will work great and won't trigger any anti-theft systems like you mentioned.
