Question:
does part # 337RT25806B extend the receiver 6 inches or is the steel tube 6 inches long ?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Buyers Products Black Receiver # 337RT25806B steel tube is 6" and is a weld on receiver for doing your own fabrication but not an extender. We do have longer weld on receivers like # 325-GH-003 also.
If you are looking to extend the length of your existing receiver, there are hitch extenders like # e88YR but these are not ideal if you're looking to tow as these will reduce your capacity. A longer ball mount like the # D-4 is a better option because your full hitch capacity is maintained. This can be really important, so you have more and not less options towing or carrying accessories.
To ensure you have adequate bumper clearance when selecting an extender or ball mount, measure from the center of the pin hole to the outside edge of your bumper. Included are video resources for additional information.
