someone gave me a blueox tow bar and I need parts how can I tell which kind it is all I see is a patent # 5224960

Most tow bars are going to have some stickers on the shank of the tow bar that will give you a part number; sometimes they come off over time, and occasionally you have to rely on visually matching them up to determine which one you have.

From the sticker on the shank, it looks like you have a Blue Ox Aventa II tow bar, which has been replaced by the Blue Ox Alpha # BX7365 . But the good news is that we still have replacement parts available.

The Replacement Rubber Boots for Blue Ox Tow Bars # BX84-0102 will work as the replacements for the damaged boots on your existing tow bars. To replace the washers you need, you can use the Replacement Washer Kit for Blue Ox Aventa II Tow Bars # BX84-0089 . If you also need the swivel bolt washer you can use the Replacement Swivel Bolt for Blue Ox Aladdin, Alpha, and Aventa II Tow Bars # BX84-0171 .

If you are in need of base plates that will work with your new-to-you tow bar, you can use the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms # BX1730 . Since your tow bar didn't come with safety cables attached, you can use the Blue Ox Safety Cables # BX88196 to give you the front end parts you'll need to get your vehicle flat towing ready.
