For your 2019 Kia Sorento LX with the V6 engine, I recommend the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98843 because it offers a 5,000 lb towing capacity and a tongue weight rating of 750 lbs. The matte black finish on the etrailer hitch is a nice touch that sets it apart from its competitors.
Since you'll just be using the hitch to move your daughter to college, it won't play a huge part for now, however, the higher tongue weight capacity will allow you to use the hitch for a wide variety of non-trailer applications like a hitch mounted bike rack or a cargo carrier if you need to use one in the future. You'll want to double check your owner's manual for your Sorento's specific towing capacity. You are limited to the capacity of your lowest rated component.
To complete your towing package, I also recommend:
Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # 118583 - For Sorento without factory tow package OR # HM11143965 if your Sorento does have the factory tow package.
Curt Fusion Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # C45155 - Includes ball mount with 2-1/4 inch rise, a welded 2 inch hitch ball and a hitch pin and clip. If my calculations are correct, this will provide you with enough drop to make up for the height difference between your Sorento's hitch and the standard height on a rental trailer's coupler.
I've also linked you to our selection of ball mounts as well as a help article that explains how to choose the correct ball mount for the rise/drop you need.
