Can Dexter Nev-R-Lube Hubs Be Replaced with Oil Bath Hubs

I have Dexter 8k torsion never lube axles and have had 2 bearing failures in 4 years. The trailer was purchased new in 2015. Can I purchase the Oil Bath hub Assembly and replace the Never Lube assembly using the same spindles?

The existing Dexter 8K Nev-R-Lube spindles on your trailer are designed specifically for the cartridge-style bearing that the corresponding Nev-R-Lube Hubs # 8-389-81UC3 use. The spindles themselves are uniquely sized for this purpose so unfortunately the hubs can't be replaced with standard hubs that use traditional inner and outer bearings, including oil-bath units like the Dexter 8K # 8-285-9UC3 that you referenced.
The only way to switch to hubs like this would be to replace the entire axle or cut off and weld on new spindles (which requires a certified welder with experience in this type of application).
To replace just the Nev-R-Lube bearing you can use part # 31-71-3.
