Question:
Yes I am in the market for a heavy duty air bag kit for my 05 GMC Yukon XL 2500 3/4 ton. The only heavy duty 5,000 Lb kit I was able to find on the market is the Firestone Ride-Rite 2253 kit that for some reason has been discontinued. Is there anyway to buy the kit piece by piece? As far as replacement brackets, bags, lines, fittings, ect? I know AirLift makes a light duty 2,000 Lb kit but I dont like they way the mount on top of the leaf springs and not to the axel itself like the Firestone Ride-Rite kit did. Or if you buy any chance still have one of the Firestone Ride-Rite 2253 kits in stock that be great. Id love to purchase it.

So the Firestone kit you mentioned for your 2005 GMC Yukon XL 2500 has been discontinued for quite some time, which is why there is no way to piece together its contents.
The only air springs that fit your '05 Yukon XL are the Air Lift Ride Control Air Helper Springs # AL59526, and like you said, they do mount on the leaf spring itself as opposed to the axle, like you see in the accompanying cut out of the linked directions. I know you mentioned you didn't like this aspect of the kit, but installation on the leaf spring as opposed to the axle itself is very common for air springs and this will not negatively impact the performance of the spring in any way. There is also not type of modification to the leaf spring needed for installation, as you can see by the linked installation instructions.
The Air Lift will still give you the support you are looking for, and to make it even easier to control the air pressure in the bags I recommend a compressor system, the Air Lift Load Controller II Compressor System # AL25592. Not only does this have a controller and gauge that allows you to adjust the pressure from the comfort of your Yukon XL's cab, but it also automatically detects low psi and automatically restores air pressure. I've added a link to a video review as well as the installation instructions for the compressor for you to check out.
