What Causes One Trailer Tire To Wear Faster Than the Others On a Tandem Axle Trailer

Question:

The passenger side front tire on my camper went bald mostly on one side. What would cause this?

There are a number of issues that can cause irregular tire wear but generally this would be the tire wearing more on one side, not necessarily that the entire tire has worn faster than the others. If the latter is true then this could be an issue with the amount of air you have in each tire or the way the trailer is loaded perhaps. If you were using a different type of tire such as one with a different ply or load range then that could cause this issue as well.

That said, it's rather hard to check all of these so I think the best thing you can do is make sure all trailer tires are filled to the max psi listed on the sidewall and is the same psi for all tires on the trailer. It would also be best to use the same tires on all sides but I can understand if you cannot afford to replace them all. The Loadstar ST205/75D15 Bias Trailer Tire part # AM1ST92 that you were looking at has a bias ply with load range c rating so make sure this matches what you have now. If you can provide me with these bits of info as well as your tire size I can make sure you get the correct replacement.
