How to Remove Old Cam Locks Without Key

Question:
i have no keys for my boat and i want to replace the original storage/rod locker cam locks on my 87 stratos. ive already attempted to remove the old locks, but have only succeeded in destroying the lock on my rod locker. how the heck do those old locks come out?

For a simple cam lock, you can get an old standard blade screwdriver that you don't care about messing up. Use a hammer and drive the screwdriver into the key slot, the further the better. Use a pipe wrench on the screwdriver handle, and turn. In most cases, that will torque the lock open.
If that fails, you'll need to drill them out. Start with a small bit, like a 1/8, and work your way up to a 1/4 inch or 5/16. Eventually you'll remove enough of the cylinder that you can get the lock open. Keep in mind, the # 295-000003 does not include the cam, so you won't want to drill all the way through.
