Why is There Two Holes on One Side of Saris Aluminum Hitch Adapter Sleeve and One on Other Side

Question:
I watched the video and I noticed there are 2 holes on one side of the 1 1/4inch to 2inch adapter and only 1 hole on the other side of the adapter. When you insert the rack into the adapter, how do you secure the bolt with the nut?

The extra hole on the side of the Replacement Aluminum Hitch Adapter Sleeve for Saris 1-1/4" Hitch Bike Racks # SA3032 that you referenced is use for attaching the adapter with the included nut and bolt to the shank of the bike rack. Basically the bolt runs through the adapter and then through the shank of the bike rack and then secured with the nut and you are set. The larger hole is then for the hitch pin of the rack.

Please tell me why my hitch pin from my 2 inch receiver hitch does not go through the Saris Aluminum adapter. Do I need a smaller hitch pin for lets say a 1/14 inch receiver in the 2 inch receiver hitch.
